“CASEY GOES TO BAT” TICKET PACKAGE GAVE FANS A SPECIAL GEHL CLUB EXPERIENCE WHILE RAISING AWARENESS FOR CEREBRAL PALSY

Package Included Gehl Club Ticket and Autographed Casey McGehee Bat
with a Portion of Proceeds Benefiting United Cerebral Palsy

On Friday September 4th, The Milwaukee Brewers invited fans to join Casey McGehee in supporting United Cerebral Palsy through a special ticket offer which included access to the Gehl Club and an autographed Casey McGehee bat.  A portion of the proceeds directly benefitted United Cerebral Palsy. United Cerebral Palsy is a cause that is near and dear to McGehee and his wife, Sarah.  Their son, Mackail, is affected by the disorder.

“We are proud to be partnering with the Brewers and the McGehee family in supporting United Cerebral Palsy,” said Laurie Fallucca, Vice President of Marketing for Palermo’s. “This is a unique program that fits well with our efforts to contribute back to worthy causes in the community.”

Palermo’s Pizza would love to say thank you to the fans that helped support this wonderful event by purchasing tickets to the game and we hope you will keep an eye out for future opportunities to support Brewers Charities, Inc., the charitable arm of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club in working with the players, their families, and sponsors like Palermo’s to support great organizations like United Cerebral Palsy.

On Tuesday, October 27th, Palermo’s Pizza and the Milwaukee Bucks organization reached out to the community and provided free dinner at the St. Benedict the Moor Community Meal Program.  This is the third year the Palermo’s family has worked alongside Bucks players and staff to deliver delicious fresh pizza to the less fortunate.  Over 400 people showed up to the event to share a moment with players Charlie Bell and rookie Brandon Jennings, among others.

Palermo’s president Giacomo Fallucca took some time to pose with Bango and brother Angelo even signed his first official autograph.  St. Benedict’s the Moor Community Meal Program is known as Milwaukee’s largest potluck dinner, with civic and church groups throughout the area bringing in hot meals to feed hundreds each day.  In addition to free meals, St. Ben’s also provides prevention-focused health care through a mutual partnership with Columbia St. Mary’s.

Feed My Starving Children

A group of volunteers from Palermo's Pizza traveled to Chicago to participate in a food packing event with the Feed My Starving Children organization.

The Christian nonprofit was founded in 1987 and its mission is "Feeding God's Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit". The organization creates meal packs complete with key nutrients which can be prepared with boiling water. The meals are packed by volunteers and are delivered to more than 60 countries including El Salvador, Haiti and North Korea.

With the input of scientists, FMSC developed a meal formula consisting of:

1.

Rice, the most widely accepted grain around the world.

2.

Extruded soy nuggets, providing maximum protein at lowest cost.

3.

Vitamins, minerals and a vegetarian chicken flavoring to give growing children the critical nutritional elements they need.

4.

Dehydrated vegetables for flavor and nutrition.

A single bag of food provides meals for six children.

Children and adult volunteers hand-pack the meals and box for shipment. A single meal costs only 17 cents to produce, and 94 percent of total donations goes directly toward the food program. Volunteers in 2009 hope to pack 20 million meals at local packing events.

During the two hour shift, volunteers packed enough food to feed 44 children for an entire year! That is a good days work!
